From the Rockies to the Alps

Brianna’s family travelled from Canada to Berchtesgaden for the wedding, exchanging the Rockies for the Alps. The celebration took place at Kulturhof Stanggass.

Sunflowers
instead of sunshine.

The rain during the ceremony was so heavy that we had to move indoors. The sunflowers stood in for the sun that afternoon, and with everyone who had come together for the couple, it was still a lovely day.

Later we managed to head outside for couple portraits. Clouds between the mountains and eventually a sunset stayed with us into the evening. That is what I love about this day: the weather cannot be planned, yet so many beautiful memories remain.

In the morning

Getting ready

Brianna got ready with her companions by the window, with mountains outside. There were letters, a first toast and many helping hands with shoes, veil and jewellery. A few rooms away, the groom tied his shoes and toasted with his friends.

The ceremony

Vows beneath
sunflowers.

Rain poured down outside, so the ceremony took place indoors. The sunflower arch simply moved with everyone. The couple read their own words to each other, followed by rings, signatures and a first kiss.

Afterwards

Hugs
and espresso.

After the ceremony, the room filled up. Congratulations, long hugs, little bites to eat and an espresso in between, while the clouds outside slowly began to clear.

Couple portraits

Clouds, meadow
and a swing.

When the rain eased, we headed outside. Clouds still hung between the peaks, and that is exactly what gives these photographs their character. A mountain meadow, a long veil and a swing with a mountain view were enough.

The evening

Tables, cake
and dancing.

Sunflowers stood on the tables, and napkins flew during dinner. Just before sunset, we stepped outside again for a few minutes. Then came the cake, the first dance and a full dance floor beneath colourful lights.

Where did this wedding take place?

At Kulturhof Stanggass near Berchtesgaden. Heavy rain moved the ceremony indoors. Later we went into the mountains for couple portraits.
