Munich is my second home base. As a wedding photographer in Munich I photograph weddings in the city, by the lakes and in the mountains, throughout Upper Bavaria and across the rest of Bavaria.

I regularly commute between Bruchsal near Karlsruhe and Munich. For you that has a very practical advantage: I do not have to travel in especially for your wedding. With a full day of coverage, travel within 100 kilometres of Munich is included, just like at home.
That covers everything from the registry office in the city centre to Lake Starnberg, Ammersee, Tegernsee and Chiemsee, and into the mountains as far as Garmisch-Partenkirchen. So if you are looking for a wedding photographer in Munich, by a lake or in the Alpine foothills, you do not need to budget for travel costs.

Some couples have their civil ceremony in the city and celebrate outdoors afterwards. That is how the wedding at Lake Starnberg went: the Mandlstraße registry office in Schwabing in the morning, both in traditional Bavarian dress, then sparkling wine and finger food in the English Garden. In the afternoon came the outdoor ceremony at Hotel Lido in Seeshaupt, with a wedding dress, a string quartet and a view of the water.
I particularly like days with two locations, because each has a completely different mood. Allow plenty of time for the drive in between, as the lakes get busy on summer Saturdays. And if you are planning a wedding in traditional dress: lederhosen, dirndl and a wedding dress on the same day look wonderful in photographs.
As a wedding photographer at Lake Starnberg, Tegernsee or Chiemsee, I know the evening light is often the most beautiful of the whole day. The sun sits low over the water, and a jetty or a stretch of shore is enough for couple portraits that look like your place.

Bringing the mountains
closer.
In the mountains I like to reach for a telephoto lens. I step back a little, and the peaks behind you move closer together. They then look as big as they feel when you are standing there. With a wide-angle lens, even the Watzmann quickly shrinks to a hill at the edge of the frame.
It also means we do not have to climb a summit for impressive mountain photographs. A meadow with a clear view or a courtyard with mountains behind it is often enough, and the telephoto lens does the rest. Whether your wedding is in the Alps, in the Berchtesgaden area or around Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we choose the right spot together beforehand.
I plan light
differently in the mountains.
On flat land the sun simply sets. In the mountains it often disappears behind a ridge long before that, and the valley lies in shadow while everything above is still glowing. Clouds cling to the peaks, and the weather can change within an hour.
That is why I plan more carefully in advance. PhotoPills shows me where the sun will be at your location and behind which mountain it will disappear. I use Viewfindr to find photo spots near your venue. On the day itself I check Windy for wind and clouds, the WarnWetter rain radar and the Kachelmannwetter satellite maps. They show me where the gaps in the clouds really are right now, not just where the forecast says they should be.
In Berchtesgaden it rained so hard during the ceremony that we had to move indoors. Later the clouds were still hanging between the peaks, and that is exactly why the couple portraits turned out the way they did.

Does travel to Munich cost extra?
No. Munich is my second home base. With a full day of coverage, travel within 100 kilometres of Munich is included, just as it is around Karlsruhe. If your venue is further away, for example in Berchtesgaden, we include the extra distance in your offer.
What does a wedding photographer in Munich cost with you?
The same as anywhere else. The price depends on how long I am with you and which parts of your day you would like photographed. In the price preview you can put this together and immediately see a rough range. Your personal offer makes it binding.
And what if it rains in the mountains?
Then we have a plan B that we agree on together beforehand. On the day I keep checking the rain radar and satellite images and tell you when a gap opens up. In Berchtesgaden that was exactly enough: the ceremony was indoors, and we still went outside later for the couple portraits.
Do you also photograph elopements in Bavaria and the Alps?
I would love to, they are among my favourite bookings. A day for two in the mountains needs less of a schedule and more time for light and walking. You can find more on my elopements page.
Do you bring a drone?
If you like, yes, for example for a large group photo. However, restrictions apply at many lakes and in the mountains. I check beforehand whether it is allowed at your venue.
How early should we get in touch?
I photograph no more than two or three weddings a month. If you are getting married between May and September, it is best to enquire early.
