Thoughts on wedding planning
Couple photographs without disappearing from the party for long.
You want photographs together and plenty of time with your guests. A well planned pause can make room for both.
Begin with what you want.
What should your portraits show? Some couples especially want to capture closeness and small gestures. For others, the landscape around their wedding belongs in the pictures. Tell me what you are looking forward to before we discuss the right time.
You do not always need a long excursion. A quiet path or a place close to your celebration can be enough. Together we will find a setting that fits and decide how much time to allow.
Include the journey.
Your time for portraits also includes getting to the location and back. Check whether the walk works with your clothes and shoes. A beautiful place is little help if the journey there feels uncomfortable.
It is also easier for your guests if they know what happens while you are away. Perhaps there is a moment after the congratulations or before dinner. Your celebration sets the rhythm.
You do not need to learn poses.
I will give you small prompts in front of my camera. We walk a little, pause or focus on each other. You do not need to keep looking into the camera or remember exactly where to put a hand.
If something does not feel right, tell me. A pose is never the point. What matters is that you recognise yourselves in your photographs.

Leave some flexibility.
A short second moment in the evening often works better than one long break. And if being with your guests matters more to you anyway, tell me beforehand. We can plan around either choice.
The time of day alone cannot guarantee a particular light. Weather, location and season all play a part. So we plan possibilities and keep an eye on how your day actually unfolds.
