First look: see each other beforehand or wait for the ceremony?
A first glance with just the two of you, or in the middle of your ceremony? Both can work. What matters is how you want to experience that moment.
What a first look can be.
A first look is the moment you intentionally plan to see each other before the ceremony. Perhaps you got ready separately and would now like to meet in peace. It needs no elaborate staging. A quiet place and a little time can be enough.
Think about whether you want to experience this alone or with people close to you. Discuss whether you want to walk towards each other or have one person wait. The idea should suit you.
What it means for your schedule.
Couple portraits can fit well after a first look. You may then spend less time away from your guests later. Still, try not to fill the morning so completely that you feel rushed before the ceremony.
Travel between places, getting dressed and small delays need room too. We will look together at where a meeting fits naturally. A short walk for portraits later remains just as possible.
If you would rather first see each other at the ceremony.
That is a lovely decision too. Perhaps you are looking forward to that first glance with your people around you. You do not have to plan a first look simply because you like those photographs.
Then we can think about time for photographs together afterwards. Before the reception, in between or in the evening: there is no schedule every couple must follow.
A question for your planning.
Imagine both versions. Which are you more excited about? Which thought makes you feel more comfortable? Your answer is a better starting point than a fixed list of supposed must have photographs.
