Wedding venue near Bruchsal Wedding at Seehaus Forst by the Walthersee

Seehaus Forst sits right on the Walthersee, just next to Bruchsal. During a shoot there I photographed from broad daylight into the night. Here I show you where by the lake the most beautiful pictures happen and when the light is at its best.

A couple stand in a close embrace on the sandy beach of the Walthersee in the evening light, a wooden ladder with coconuts in the foreground.

Where the Seehaus is

The Seehaus stands on the Walthersee in Forst. Forst borders Bruchsal directly, and it is not far from Karlsruhe or Heidelberg either. For me the journey is especially short, because I live in Bruchsal.

The house itself is a bright Bauhaus style hall with large windows, and from inside you look out over the lake all around. Outside there is a large lawn by the water, a sandy beach and a covered terrace with a pergola.

The couple sit on a lounge sofa right by the lake, with hydrangeas and lanterns on the table.

Celebrant-led ceremony on the beach

At the Seehaus you marry in a celebrant-led ceremony on the sandy beach right by the water. A sand coloured canopy stretches over the chairs, with the lawn and the lake behind. If you are also going to the registry office on the same day, we plan the journey there together.

Drinks reception by the water

After the ceremony everyone moves to the lawn or under the pergola, both with a view of the lake. This is where your guests congratulate you and where we take the group photos too.

Couple portraits beneath the trees on the shore

Large trees stand along the shore, and beneath them there is shade even at midday. The light there is soft, nobody is dazzled, and the lake sparkles behind you. In autumn there are colourful leaves on the ground as well.

A few steps further on, the sandy beach begins. Barefoot by the water the pictures instantly become more relaxed and look a little like a holiday.

The white façade

The Seehaus itself is a simple white building. The bright wall reflects the light and makes a calm background against which dress, bouquet and veil really stand out. When the sun is high, we look for the shady side.

The most beautiful light comes in the evening

In the evening the sun sets behind the far shore, and the light turns warm and golden. That is when I take you outside for ten minutes, to the shore or the beach. With the veil in backlight or as a silhouette against the water, very special pictures emerge.

How to spread couple portraits across the day without disappearing from your celebration for long is explained in the article on couple portraits on your wedding day.

Dinner with a view of the lake

Dinner and the party take place in the Seehaus, and you can choose between a set menu and a buffet. During my shoot the table stood outside under the pergola, with candles, hydrangeas and the lake behind. Whether that is possible on your day is best clarified directly with the Seehaus.

Dancing beneath strings of lights

During my shoot, strings of lights hung over the terrace and in the trees. Once it gets dark, they glow in the pictures as small points of light in the background. For the dancing I then work with flash, so that you are sharp and the atmosphere still remains.

At the Seehaus you can party into the early hours. And if you would like to stand by the water with sparklers, let me know beforehand, then we can time it to suit the light.

And if it rains

Even then, the lake stays in the picture. The pergola terrace is covered, and from the hall you look out at the water through the large windows. For couple portraits, a short break in the rain is often enough.

Whether the ceremony moves inside if it rains is something to discuss with the Seehaus team in advance.
