Wedding photographer in Karlsruhe
As a wedding photographer in Karlsruhe, I photograph your day at the palace, in the palace garden and the botanical garden, or at the Alter Schlachthof.

Karlsruhe will always
be home
I lived and photographed in Karlsruhe for ten years. Even though I live in Bruchsal today, Karlsruhe will always be home. I know every corner of the palace garden, the Rhine harbour and the Alter Schlachthof. Not just the best photo spots: I can also tell you where each bird nests and where the tawny owl hides in the palace garden.
Karlsruhe has plenty of flair, with the palace and Schloss Gottesaue. You will find nature in the palace park, along the Alb or in the Oberwald, and if you prefer an industrial look, the Alter Schlachthof or the Rhine harbour is the place. There is something for every couple. On this page I introduce the places and wedding venues in Karlsruhe that I know best.
For full-day coverage, travel within 100 kilometres of Karlsruhe is included.

At the palace
and in the palace garden
In front of Karlsruhe Palace, everything feels a little more festive. The large square gives you space, and a few steps further you are already in the palace garden.
There are lawns, old trees and willows whose branches hang almost to the ground. Under a willow like that, the pictures turn out very calm, and between the trees the light is often beautifully soft.
Depending on the season, the palace garden is lush green or autumn orange, and even in winter you will find beautiful backdrops here. Walls, the lake, the deadwood left lying in the garden, the evergreen trees and of course the palace itself all help.

Haus Solms registry office
and the botanical garden
Most often I photograph at Haus Solms, the registry office in the Weststadt. There is also the registry office in the botanical garden, where from May to September you get married on the balcony of the Torbogenhaus.
You don’t have to choose between the registry office and a beautiful backdrop for your photos. After the ceremony we simply go wherever you like, to the palace, the palace garden or the Rhine harbour.
The botanical
garden
Right next to the palace garden is the botanical garden. The glasshouse with its green dome, the brick buildings and all the plants make it a very special place for wedding photos.

Prefer something industrial?
Slaughterhouse and Rhine harbour
Not every couple wants hedges and roses. The Alter Schlachthof, the old slaughterhouse in the Oststadt, has brick, old pipes and facades with history. That makes for pictures with more edge.
You can celebrate there at the Fettschmelze, for example, and Schloss Gottesaue is close by for couple portraits.
The Rhine harbour has just as much edge. It is especially impressive at blue hour, when the lights are reflected in the water.
What a whole wedding day with me can look like is shown in my wedding stories.

Around
Karlsruhe
If you widen the circle a little, the old towns of Durlach and Ettlingen come into play, or a trip up the Turmberg. The view there is always beautiful, especially at sunset, when you look straight into the setting sun.
In Ettlingen I have already photographed a wedding at Watt’s and done couple shoots there too. And if you are getting married north of Karlsruhe, have a look at my page Wedding photographer in Bruchsal.
How it works
with me
Before you book, we get to know each other, usually in a video call of about an hour. We go through your day, and you get a feel for who you are inviting to your wedding.
Then we decide together where in Karlsruhe your couple portraits will be taken, depending on where you get married and celebrate and what light we have on your day. Whether I come just for the ceremony or cover your whole day as a wedding story, from getting ready to the dance floor, is up to you. And if you would like pictures of just the two of you before or after the wedding, a couple shoot in Karlsruhe.
Within a week of the wedding you receive your gallery with all the good pictures. You choose five favourites, and they get an additional, more detailed retouch.

Queer weddings
in Karlsruhe
I’m Janet, a lesbian myself, and as a wedding photographer I photograph lesbian, gay and queer weddings in Karlsruhe and across the region. You don’t have to explain anything to me, not your family and not why you have no interest in fixed roles.
Lesbian wedding, gay wedding or no label at all: I photograph you the way you are together.
More about queer weddingsWhat couples from Karlsruhe
often ask
Where can you take beautiful wedding photos in Karlsruhe?
At the palace and in the palace garden, in the botanical garden right next to it and at Schloss Gottesaue. For nature there is the Alb and the Oberwald, for an industrial look the Alter Schlachthof and the Rhine harbour. A little further out, the old towns of Durlach and Ettlingen and the Turmberg come into play. We decide together which place suits you, also depending on where you get married and celebrate.
And what if it rains in Karlsruhe?
Then we are happy to take pictures in the rain, with an umbrella and a few flashes that make the drops sparkle. If you would rather stay dry, there are good alternatives. Under most of the trees in the palace garden you don’t get very wet, and in heavy showers there are passages under the palace where you are sheltered.
Which registry offices in Karlsruhe do you know?
Most often I am at Haus Solms, the registry office in the Weststadt. I also know the registry office in the botanical garden.
Can you get married in the Karlsruhe botanical garden?
Yes. From May to September, the Karlsruhe registry office holds ceremonies on the balcony of the Torbogenhaus. All the details are on the botanical garden’s website.
Is travel to Karlsruhe extra?
No. I lived in Karlsruhe for ten years and now live in Bruchsal, right next door. For full-day coverage, travel within 100 kilometres of Karlsruhe is included, which also covers Ettlingen, the Kraichgau, Baden-Baden and the northern Black Forest.
What does a wedding photographer in Karlsruhe cost with you?
The price depends on how long I’m with you and which parts of your day you want captured. In the price preview you can click this together and immediately see a rough range. Your personal quote makes it binding.
Are you a queer wedding photographer in Karlsruhe?
Yes. I’m a lesbian myself and photograph lesbian, gay and queer weddings in Karlsruhe and across the region. You can read more on my page about queer weddings.
Do you also photograph just the civil ceremony?
Yes. Anything from a few hours to the whole day is possible, including just the ceremony at Haus Solms with a few couple portraits afterwards. You decide what you want captured.
How many pictures do we get?
You get all the good pictures of the day, around 1,500 for full-day coverage, all edited by me. Five pictures of your choice also get a more detailed retouch.
When do we get our pictures?
You receive the finished gallery within a week of your wedding, as a private, password-protected online gallery. About a week after you have chosen your five favourites, the more detailed versions follow.
Can we get to know each other beforehand?
Absolutely, and I want to as well. We usually have a video call of about an hour. On your day, you shouldn’t have anyone around who makes you feel uncomfortable.
How early should we get in touch?
I photograph two to three weddings a month at most. If you are getting married between May and September, it’s best to get in touch early.
